Mr. C's Sloppy Joes

  • 1 lb. lean ground beef from Amy's Meats

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper (optional)

  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard

  • 1 Tablespoon tomato paste

  • 3/4 cup ketchup

  • 3 teaspoons brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

  • 2 teaspoon garlic, minced

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • salt to taste

  • ground black pepper to taste

  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted


1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef, onion, garlic, and optional green pepper.


2. Use a colander to drain fat and liquids if any.


3. Stir in the mustard, ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, and brown sugar; mix thoroughly.


4. Reduce heat, and simmer for 30 minutes until mixture has thickened to your liking. Season as preferred with salt and pepper.


5. Remove from heat and serve over toasted buns (theses are amazing slightly buttered, but just a bun is good too).
